Kids Kamp uses many methods to inspire the lives of at-risk and underprivileged youth. One such innovation and effective way is Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) activities. EAL is an emerging and exciting field where horses are used as partners for emotional growth, healing, and learning.
EAL addresses many of today's health and development needs of youth. It may surprise you to l earn that EAL does not focus on horse-riding or horsemanship. In fact, 90 percent of EAL takes place on the ground. An EAL session involves setting up activities involving horses that will require the participant to apply certain skills – skills they may not be accustomed to – and require them to use creative thinking, effective communication, and problems solving techniques, leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and self-confidence. These tools are immensely important in cultivating a string moral fiber in kids that can withstand today's pressures, and help them make responsible, thoughtful choices.
Trinity's approach is based on a Christian perspective. Emphasis is placed on safety and respectful interactions with horses, whether during grounded activities or while riding.
