We start with the DISCOVERY (3-4 hours on-site, including a 1-hour Equine Assisted Growth and Learning.  You share with us who you are, where you came from, and most importantly, where you want to go.  We walk you through our very own Purpose Matrix – helping you to evaluate and assess your 6 key categories of life; Spirit, Mind, Body, Relationships, Career, and Finances.

We Help You:

• set specific, strategic and doable new goals
• design new habits that help you quickly achieve those goals
• break it down even further and help you dissect what it will take, what resources you need, and how quickly you will achieve it
• identify your biggest obstacle and take THAT into the arena and allow the horses to help you work through it and make a plan to overcome it.

Step 2: Managing Progress

We do an on-site follow-up 2 weeks later to help you manage and measure your PROGRESS.  We assist in assessing your process and progress, further refining it and adjusting it as needed. Once again, we partner with the horses to help clarify and avoid the avoidable pitfalls.
Your time with us will help you learn how to increase your personal effectiveness and success by creating strategic goals, as well as, developing and maintaining new habits that create change and re-invention.

TEC’s focus for years has been on suicide prevention among Veterans with PTSD and youth struggling with their identity, bullying and their place in life.  We know that if a person has no purpose in life, they have no “lifeline” and are at a monumentally higher risk of suicide.

Finding Your Purpose:
The Purpose Matrix is a tremendously effective discovery tool that helps assess the present condition of a person’s State of Purpose.  While systematically walking through the 6 Key Categories of Life; Spirit, Mind, Body, Relationships, Career, and Finances, it helps to identify where you might be “stuck” and what is preventing you from living your purpose.  It tells you unequivocally, where you are now and gives our treatment teams a roadmap in the arena and with the horses to help you get to where you want to be. Our youth today are exposed to and struggle with so many different issues than ever before.  Internet bullying, teen drug abuse, alcoholism, gang involvement, human trafficking, teen pregnancy, violence and crime. These things are present in nearly all communities, not just in the metro and inner-cities. Studies show that nearly ALL youth and teenagers are “at-risk”.
The expression “at risk youth” refers to a youth or teen who struggles with emotional and behavioral issues that can lead them into areas and situations which risk their personal development and ultimately their future.

Skills that last a Lifetime: 
​Equine Assisted Therapy is a very effective treatment modality perfectly suited for at risk or underprivileged youth and teens.  Studies show spending time with a horse reduces stress, anxiety and invites new learning and engagement.  Enjoyable as it is, it is not merely recreational or haphazard.  This method is structured and very intentional and it produces measurable positive outcomes.

How Our Program Works:
Trinity Equestrian Center’s L.I.F.E. Skills is an 8-week Equine Assisted Learning group that helps at-risk youth and teens on many levels.  It helps them combat defiance, anger, low self-esteem and mood disorders and helps fosters empathy and compassion by working with horses.
Horses have a uncommon way of breaking down barriers and well-built defense mechanisms.  Youth and teens who struggle with relationships and authority surprisingly accept the horse’s presence and feedback seemingly without question.  A new relationship is developed based on respect, trust and patience which then, with these new skills, helps the youth form and maintain healthy relationships with people outside the arena.
Horses are amazing teachers and therapists.  We use an experiential therapy model (learn by doing and doing differently).  Students quickly learn that a patient, calm approach is rewarded by the horse’s acceptance of them and willingness to cooperate. They quickly find out that anger and aggression only produces distance and disappointment.  But if they are willing to try doing it differently, many positive things begin to happen.
Horses are perfect examples of “living in the moment” and the law of cause and effect.  By working with horses, students learn their actions and behaviors have consequences, good and bad.  The way they communicate, their body and how they approach the horse all have a bearing on the ultimate flow and results.  They learn that taking a different approach produces different results.  That’s a game changer for most!

This unique connection with something so majestic, empowering and so non-judgmental, seems “too good to be true” for the ladies in our Equine Assisted Therapy Group for Wounded Women.  These ladies are victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.

How We Help:
Our 8-week Wounded Women program help women regain their self-confidence, image and esteem by building a relationship with 1100-pound furry therapist and our Treatment Team. We have three teams on staff that consists of a WI Lic. Therapist, a Certified Equine Specialist and one or more therapy horses. These teams help them redefine their identity, their God-given purpose and what their future holds.
This uncommon progress is entirely based on trust, the highest and most valued commodity for both horses and women survivors of violence.  To be transparent, vulnerable and authentic are high priced traits that must be utilized in order to begin the healing process.

Toni graduated with a degree in marketing and merchandising following which she co-managed her family’s 90-year-old men’s clothing store for six years. Toni left retail for a position reorganizing the advertising department at a newspaper office and later served as Director of Marketing for an area national bank for four years.
When Bill and Toni decided to move to Eau Claire, Toni became a successful area Realtor as well as an entrepreneur in internet sales and contact management services. In 2002, she became a co-owner of Trinity Equestrian Center with her husband and sister. She obtained a degree from University of St. Thomas in fund development for non-profit organizations, received her certification from EAGALA as a Certified Equine Specialist, and then, in 2005, initiated Trinity’s horse therapy programs for underprivileged and special needs kids, adults, families, and veterans.
Toni has been a speaker for God’s Great Outdoors traveling the country and Canada since 2002 and in 2009, became an ordained Christian chaplain.
One of Toni’s greats passions is to help other Equine Centers fulfill their dream by developing a successful, effective and purpose-filled equine therapy program.  She devotes much of her time these days to training, business development and consulting across the US and has development Trinity’s TEC University.
Toni’s primary responsibilities at Trinity are managing, marketing, fund development, and director of all programs and ministries.
